the triumph of love

sound designfebruary 2008, coger theatre

This production was set in the early 20th century and was inspired by Charlie Chaplin.  The director really liked the overall aspect of silent films, which is why she based her concept of the production on this theme.  Along with the typical show of The Triumph of Love, the director also had a sideshow in which she cast actors to play crew members onstage, to manipulate the show to have the desired outcome.  With the two different clusters of people, I had two different themes.  Within Charlie Chaplin movies there are two different types of music; melodic and mechanical.  I applied these premises to the two different parts of the show, using different types of music, while maintaining the music quality throughout the course of the show.
