the diary of anne frank

sound designAugust 2009, lyceum theatre

This show was realistically set containing subtle undertones.  All of the sound effects needed to be commensurate with the time period, however they, along with m any different aspects of the show, had hidden messages within them.  This was implemented by incorporating Morse code in the buzzer and through song selections that were barely discernible to the average listener.  Since this show was written to represent two years, the sound needed to show the passage of time since it was not achievable through other designs.  To achieve this, the quality of sound deteriorated while the intensity became more powerful until the conclusion of the show, when the family was removed from their attic.
